Rosacea is a common, long-term inflammatory skin condition that causes redness and bumps, most often on the nose, cheeks and forehead.
What is it?
Rosacea is a chronic skin inflammation condition, which often results in a flushed complexion or a skin rash. This skin disorder is typically seen in adults in their middle age or older, and particularly affects those with light skin tones. It's crucial to note that rosacea can sometimes be misdiagnosed as acne, allergic reactions or eczema, due to the similarity in their symptomatology.
The onset of rosacea is usually characterized by the appearance of small, reddish, pus-filled bumps predominantly on the cheeks, nose, forehead and occasionally the eyes. Other symptoms include swelling of the face, dry and flaky skin, visible blood vessels on the skin, an enlarged nose and persistent redness of the skin.
