What is it?

Acne is one of the most prevalent skin conditions in the United States and one of the most common conditions treated by our medical providers at Chapel Hill Dermatology.

Ance develops when the skin's pores get blocked with oil, dead skin cells or bacteria, resulting in inflamed, red or pus-filled swellings on the skin's surface. Fluctuations in hormones, genetic factors and some medications can also trigger these breakouts. Acne typically occurs on the face, neck, chest and back, and the severity can vary from mild to severe. Our board-certified dermatologists in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, are highly experienced in treating this common condition.

How is it treated?

Although acne is not a serious condition, it can leave behind scarring and affect your self-confidence. At Chapel Hill Dermatology, we believe virtually everyone can achieve clearer skin. We offer a range of medical treatment options, including prescription and over-the-counter topicals, as well as oral medications.

Regardless of the treatment route, we're committed to helping you clear your acne and prevent future breakouts. Our board-certified, physician-led team will evaluate your skin and recommend a personalized treatment plan. Schedule your appointment now and fast-track your path to clear, acne-free skin.
