PDT combines light and a light-activated drug to treat conditions like acne, psoriasis and skin cancer.
What is it?
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a versatile treatment used for acne, actinic keratosis, psoriasis, skin cancer and vitiligo. The procedure involves two steps: first, our board-certified providers apply a light-sensitive medication, known as a photosensitizing agent. Next, we use a specific wavelength of light to activate this medication. This targeted approach allows us to treat problem areas effectively while safeguarding healthy skin. PDT is minimally invasive, which helps minimize the risk of scarring.
What to expect
PDT is typically an outpatient procedure, and we can treat you at our location in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
