Dr. Becker is a native of New Jersey, where he attended Rutgers College. Although he majored in English, while enrolled in a biology course to fulfill a graduation requirement, he discovered his love of medicine. He also received his M.D. from Rutgers (formerly known as the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey), and completed his dermatology training there as well.
That training was preceded by a year at Brown University for his internship. This lead to a four and a half year stint in private practice in Providence, RI. During that time, he also served on the clinical faculty at Brown, supervising resident clinics. Fortunately, while there, he met a former North Carolinian who lured him down to the South.
Dr. Becker has been at Chapel Hill Dermatology since 2007. He enjoys all aspects of dermatology, from acne to skin cancer to warts, and takes care of people of all ages and backgrounds. He values listening and communication, and views health care as a collaborative process. When he is not in the office, he is passionate about running, but with two young children at home, he is finding it harder and harder to keep up with his training.
